Cars are great and all, but it really is hard to beat the cheap thrills you can get on a motorcycle, especially on roads that you wouldnā€™t normally be able to enjoy a sports car on. The big downside, of course, is that if you crash, injuries are much more common. And no matter how safely youā€™re riding, thereā€™s little you can do to keep reckless drivers from hitting you. Sometimes, though, those reckless drivers get an instant dose of karma.

In the video that you can watch below, Carscoops reports the driver of a Brazilian-market Renault Kwid suddenly swerved to the left while driving among a group of motorcycle riders. In doing so, the driver who G1 identified as Cleverton Lima Vindilino hit one of the riders and knocked them off their bike. The good news is, they lived and werenā€™t hit by any other cars on the road. Unfortunately, they did not escape entirely unharmed and ended up hospitalized with a broken leg.

We canā€™t say whether Vindilino would have hit-and-run or not, but he also didnā€™t have time to make that choice. In addition to hitting the motorcyclist, he also clipped the divider, sending his car spinning. The car then rolled over, sliding on its roof and side before finally coming to rest rubber side down.

Brazilian police arrested Vindilino and administered a breathalyzer test that reportedly showed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.46 mg/l. [EDIT: The original version of this article confused mg/l with BAC, suggesting Vindilino was far drunker than he really was. He actually would have had a BAC of about 0.10, which is still above the legal limit in both the U.S. and Brazil.]

Despite being arrested for nearly killing someone after reportedly deciding to drive drunk, Vindilino was allowed to post bail and is no longer in jail as he awaits trial.
